No Emergencies: APIA Have Achieved Full Assimilation? (Week 32)

Unprecedented Use of Emergency Power Will Hamper Our Freedoms, But APIA May Be Too Busy Working to Notice

The strange part of today’s Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) movement is how nonexistent it is.

AGN tapped Google AI on “APIA activism” recently and the results reflect that it “was” a movement that made an impact a generation ago. There is NO mention of any ongoing activism TODAY.

Does that mean that APIA are now fully assimilated as “nominal Whites”? That’s what a lot of APIA would like to think. Just look at all those trendist “blonde Koreans” in K-Pop. Either they are massively brainwashed or they are into gender-bending dynamics with all the Rest & Recreation Soldiers stationed throughout the East Pacific (Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, and Myanmar). Those soldiers are flush with cash and they can buy exotic gay men and today’s modern counterparts of “comfort women.”

That’s something that the sensationalist Chris Norlund and his spouse (who are very active vloggers, posting several times a day) might not want to talk about. But hey, they have amassed several hundred thousand followers on YouTube talking about American Politics from the safe distance of —you guessed it— South Korea! AGN finds it just a bit odd, like when this reporter traveled to Taiwan, it seemed that suddenly everything in American Politics had kind of faded into the nethery night, being so far across the ocean. But maybe his funders keep Chris and his wife in a special bubble all day long, so even if they do live in S. Korea, they can absolutely tap the pulse of American Politics better than the reporters at The Hill, since they do post during real Western daylight time.

APIA have achieved “full assimilation”? Nothing can be further from the truth!

This reporter can testify about this based on a systematic targeting of Asian businesses for low-level harassment ever since Covid-19. It has only recently reduced because the presence of the National Guard has definitely at least temporarily scared off the worst crazies and the shiftless teens or young adults who used to loiter all day near or in front of businesses.

Just why did the former low-lying criminals target small Asian businesses to loiter around day and night, whether it was colored teens, or migrants driving tens of mopeds parked for hours in front DC Full-Kee restaurant that recently shuttered its doors? AGN didn’t see that kind of harassment happening in front of black-owned businesses, nor the nasty looking graffiti that continues to be sprayed near a Chinese-owned business, whether it is in Chinatown or not.

They literally thought it fun to park their behinds on the steps and block people from entering. The moped drivers thought it fun to stand around in cliques and clog up the doorways into restaurants and cafes. Maybe developers pay them to target small businesses for bankruptcy because they want to buy the land rights at auction level pricing. AGN also wrote a few articles about this, because DC Law apparently allows loitering—unless the business district is protected by special security guards such as at nearby City Center.

In fact, when AGN alerted authorities to this matter a few years ago—such as Advancing Justice or Stop APIA Hate—there was no response. Those organizations have forms to fill out, but they use the data for their own studies, and also to justify application for a new grant. Advancing Justice even had an outside firm develop a rather pointless webinar about “how to protect yourself from harassment by strangers.” There was nothing in there that AGN didn’t already know, but the webinar didn’t even use Asian faces—the outside firm, dominated by Caucasians, naturally saw no need to identify anyone by race or even as humans. They were sketch-art cartoons, which if anything, made the webinar depressing to watch.

APIA organizations can afford to be lackadaisical because they are only worried about protecting their positions for their lawyers, who absorb the top pay. They have to pay for the office space, so they will abide by anything the board tells them. They are paid by their grants and by the USAID type monies that the DOGE discovered in the database, probably dark monies, unaccountable funds, even maybe the “black budget.” Since the Pentagon has never undergone an audit, there are likely many sorts of grant funds that have never seen the light of day.

The same funds that were spread around for the LGBTQ+ and Critical Race Theory and DEI programs were there for APIA organizations to tap, provided they hired certain types of board members or positions that prioritized those kinds of people. These national offices are manned the same way as FedEx is today, with maybe only a handful of people doing multiple tasks.

Figuratively, this is the case of the tail-swallowing-the-head in terms of fully helping Asian-Americans in the community. One organization that AGN stopped by at a few years ago that supposedly offered pro-bono service practically slammed the door on this reporter’s face. The lawyer who did pro-bono was busy—and she also was busy—-so she rattled off a few names to try without even offering a piece of paper to write them down. Evidently those pro-bono hours are listed but few if anyone shows up, so they can claim to be providing a service they do not really offer.

So if anyone was expecting a large contingent of APIA from Advancing Justice, full of teens and interns and college-students and young adults wearing matching orange tee-shirts, prepped to march for liberty and rights and protection of social service programs, AGN has seen ZILCH. There used to be something like that in the Obama years, when there was plenty of money flowing into their coffers, but now it appears that they are not even encouraging people to go to any marches or rallies. The number of Asian Americans AGN has seen at the recent rallies and protests for FreeDC and Save Medicare and Protect Unions can practically be counted on one hand.

How can Asians claim to be progressive when they don’t even bother to go to protests, let alone organize as the whites, browns, and blacks do?

Perhaps the secret lies in my University of Washington “The Trend in Engineering” Alumni Magazine. They are so intensely over-specialized, so very well paid, so stuck within their social niche, that there is scarcely any space in their noggins to think about outside mundane topics such as American Politics. They tune into NPR and listen or watch an hour of news before calling it a day, because their work and research occupies them nearly 24/7, with just a little space left over for raising a couple of kids, shopping, and maybe an evening out.

They are not merely cowering, just fearful, or completely compliant and law-abiding. The ideal worker-bees, invisible, always busy, never losing their focus. Trained to do anything that the State wants including betraying their own, embedding low expectations for the DEI hires, impossible expectations for their peers, and lapping up their tongues to kiss the hands of their overlords, maybe the Colonials.

The lower end of the APIA spectrum—-the poor—of which this reporter has joined the growing ranks are always busy watching their backs. After all, now you must regard yourself as one of the permanent HB1 visa-class. You may have been born here, be third or fourth generation, but you know that there is nobody helping to represent you, because the topdogs are always browbeating you or shaming you for your lack of success. The Whites always know this about Asians, so they usually help rub it in. The Blacks don’t mean to, but they take sticking together to mean staying together and allowing for so many handicap points that a culture of low-expectations becomes normalized, creating its own kind of exceptionalisms.

So this is how all APIA are becoming HB1-Visa holders. They don’t want to stick their neck out to help one another, they don’t want to go to any protests or marches together, they want to pretend that their culture in America is as successful as in China or Japan or Korea or Malaysia or Vietnam. They don’t mind that there are hardly any role models for them to watch on T.V. or cable-television. They don’t mind that they are grotesquely underrepresented in the Hollywood entertainment scene or in American media. They don’t need to listen to anything except classical music, if they listen to music at all.

Per AJA or other nominal membership organizations, they even encourage group shaming if a member is only going to a “land-grant University” or has only a B.A. Everything in APIA-ville is geared towards over-specialization and assimilation, and when one of them makes it, it is almost a duty to marry “White.” This way, all the shame can be left behind. With a good job and benefits, and half-white children, who cares about the last in the pack?

Today there are not even anymore Tongs or Chinese Benevolent Societies. People would laugh at the idea that Chinamen came to build the railroads and open up laundromats. Trump and Musk don’t need Chinamen to build anything for them, because the robots will be doing all the hard work in the future. Once they finish scraping the DNA of Chinamen for whatever is worth, it will all be done with.

Fully assimilated? That WAS an interesting idea. Now once we get rid of all those worthless APIA museum exhibits, hawk them off to the highest bidder, there will be space for fancy new golf courses and gaudy hotels, all the tasteless kinds of things that Hong Kong millionaires will be lining up to see on a tour of the United States.
